Celine Handbags Last year JC Penny’s, a middle economic price range brick and mortar department store was struggling. Now, Penny’s CEO Ron Johnson is repositioning Penny’s as a middle-income version of Henri Bendel with individual specialty shops offering updated merchandise. The changes are guaranteed to make shopping at the Citadel Mall’s JC Penny’s a lot more interesting.
Fashionistas might be scratching their heads and wondering if Marc Jacobs is fashion’s latest “bad boy”. His 2012 runway show was one of the most interesting and amusing. However the clothes were more in the vain of theatre costumes than wearable clothes. He chose to ignore the new Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Guidelines on age and weight for models by continuing to use fourteen and fifteen year olds. Considering the Dr. Seuss/Alice in Wonderland quality of his show for Louis Vuitton, fourteen and fifteen year olds may have been appropriate. A February 15 article in The New York Times by Eric Wilson stated, “Both girls are represented by Ford Models, Which said last week that the company, while in favor of the health initiative, had not agreed to the council’s specific proposal of an age requirement for runway modeling. The fashion council, of which Mr. Jacobs is a board member, did not fault him, responding that it is up to the designers to decide whether to follow its guidelines.” A skeptic might assume that the CFDA guidelines on underage and underweight models are just a lot of meaningless hot air. Mr. Jacobs was a main attraction at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Gala. Nadine Deninno in an article in the International Business Times wrote he “stole the spotlight himself at the Met Gala by showing up in a lace dress sporting his white boxes underneath”.
Celine Bag Fashion’s revolving door of designer de jour continues. Hedi Slimane replaced Stefano Pilati at YSL. Mr. Slimane changed YSL to SL, moved the company headquarters from Paris to Los Angeles and banned New York Times fashion reporter Cathy Horn from the SL runway show. Raf Simons replaced John Galliano at Dior. Alexander Wang replaced Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga.
It was the year of big accessories. Peds and pantyhose both made come backs. The accessories that perhaps best define the year’s fashion were Marc Jacobs’s oversized hats, Chanel’s oversized Hula-Hoop Bag, and Celine’s fuzzy slippers. It was a year in which designers seemed to say that bigger is better.
